Coaches for Cancer benefit basketball game to raise money for the Aliza Jean Stutzman Foundation

February 23, 2016

The Coaches for Cancer benefit basketball game to raise money this year for the Aliza Jean Stutzman Foundation is going to be on March 19, 5:00 at PCSS. Last year this event was held at Penquis High School to help with Zac Mills of Lagrange (son of Penquis boys coach Jason Mills) and I believe made about $6,000 at the game and $11,000 overall. If we could come close to that this year it would be awesome!!

The Aliza Jean Stutzman Foundation is a local foundation that has has raised approximately $16,000. (as of mid Jan.) since the death of their daughter just over 3 years ago from cancer. She was an 8th grade student from Harmony who was an avid basketball player and fan. She was to attend Dexter Regional High School and play for Coach Grant and the Lady Tigers. Her father Craig Stutzman works in SAD# 4 as a Speech Therapist.

The Aliza Jean Stutzman Foundation was also one of the first groups to hand over a very sizable check to the Mills family when Zac began his fight against childhood cancer. All of the money earned stays in Maine for Maine families and helps them directly. I believe that 100% goes to families. This isn’t one of those National organizations that 80-85% of the money goes to administrative fees and the like.

Please let us (me) know if you’re interested in helping, contributing, soliciting for donations or possibly some type of halftime entertainment. We were hoping for a local band or some type of halftime performance that may draw in a few more fans and spectators.

Thank you for your support.
