Season ends for Husson women’s and men’s basketball: Bowdoin women advance

Jeff Racy nailed a three pointer with 15 seconds remaining to give Amherst a 74-72 victory over Husson in a first round NCAA Division III men’s basketball game played Friday night at Amherst.

Trevon Butler led the Eagles with 25 points, seven rebounds, and three assists, while Raheem Anderson had 17 points and seven rebounds. Husson finishes the season with a 21-7 record.

Amherst had four players finish in double figures, led by Johnny McCarthy with 21 points. David George, Connor Green, and Racy finished with 11 points each. Amherst (23-5) will play SUNY Cortland in a second round game Saturday night.

The season also ended Friday night for the Husson women’s basketball team. They fell 76-46 against Albright in a NCAA women’s first round game.

The Bowdoin women’s basketball team defeated Westfield State 75-49 in a NCAA Division III first round game. Bowdoin will take on New York University in a second round game on Saturday night.
