GIRLS AA/A/B SOUTH TEAM TRIUMPHS AT 2016 MAINE McDONALD’S® HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR ALL-STAR BASKETBALL GAMES

BANGOR, Maine – The Girls Class AA/A/B South Senior All-Star Team defeated the AA/A/B North All-Stars 86-69 today at the Maine McDonald’s® High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games at Husson University in Bangor.

Shannon Todd of York High School led the way for the South squad with 18 points, followed by Maddie Hasson of South Portland High School who had 15 points. Tianna Sugars was the top scorer for the North team with 16 points, while Emily Jacques of Edward Little High School scored 15 points.

The North team was coached by Nate Pelletier of Oxford Hills High School, Keith Derosby of Messalonskee High School and Lindsey Welch of Winslow High School. Other North players included Madison Card, Ellsworth High School; Katie Condon, Houlton High School; Natalie Hill, Houlton High School; Nia Irving, Lawrence High School; Dominique Lewis, Lawrence High School; Sierra Tapley, Mt. Desert Island High School; Kelsey Shaw, Mt. Desert Island High School; Caitlin Kane, Mt. Blue High School; Taylor Williams, Presque Isle High School; and Sadie Nelson of Windham High School.

The South squad was coached by Laughn Berthiaume of Gorham High School, Ryan Casey of Mountain Valley High School and Rick Clark of York High School. The South roster was rounded out by Maddie Bowe, Cape Elizabeth High School; Jess Willerson, Catherine McAuley High School; Sarah Clement, Catherine McAuley High School; Julia Quinn, Fryeburg Academy; Alexis L’Heureux-Carland, Fryeburg Academy; Sydney Petrie, Mountain Valley High School; Ashley Howe, Thornton Academy; and Chloe Smedley of York High School.

Net proceeds from the All-Star Games benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC) of Maine. Last year’s All-Star Weekend raised more than $32,000.00 for the Charities. Since its founding in 1998, RMHC of Maine has granted more than $3 million to more than 250 non-profit organizations that positively impact the health and well-being of children and families in Maine and eastern New Hampshire.
