BANGOR, Maine – This evening, the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches (MABC) presented its prestigious Bob Brown Contributor Award to legendary coach Rick Clark of Wells. The award was presented at the 2016 Maine McDonald’s® High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games banquet in Bangor.
Each year, the MABC All-Star Games Committee selects an honoree who has made a significant contribution to the sport of basketball in Maine. In his final season of coaching, Clark led the York High School girls to an undefeated season and a fourth state championship last month. In his 34-year coaching career he amassed a record of 509-189 with six regional titles and became just the sixth Maine high school coach to reach 500 wins.
(NOTE: Rick Clark’s Biography attached)
“Few Maine basketball coaches have had the success that Rick Clark achieved in three decades of coaching,” said Peter Murray, MABC president and boys varsity basketball coach at Dexter Regional High School. “He was a respected teacher and coach at York High School, and he instilled a passion in his players that made them great competitors and great people.”
