Sometimes a pitcher needs to step up and do big things to halt a losing streak for a team. The University of Maine Black Bears softball needed just that after they fell 11-3 to Wisconsin Green Bay in the first game of a doubleheader at Clearwater, Florida on Tuesday morning.
Molly Flowers gave the Black Bears exactly what they needed when she threw a no-hitter in a 6-0 victory over Wisconsin Green Bay in game two of the doubleheader. Flowers walked four and struck out nine in helping Maine snap a four game losing streak.
Rachel Carlson had three hits from the lead off spot, while Rachel Harvey had two hits, including a home run to pace the Black Bears offense. Maine (5-6) will play Lehigh at 2:15 and South Florida at 7:15 on Wednesday at Tampa, Florida.
