Monks down Eagles in non conference baseball action

The Saint Josephs College baseball team visited the Husson Eagles in non conference action on Thursday evening and came away with a 5-2 win at the Winkin Complex.

Husson struck for their only runs in their first at bat in the bottom of the first. JT Whitten and Ryan Rebar both had RBI singles to make it 2-0.

After a sacrifice fly by Joey Murphy got the Monks on the scoreboard in the third inning, Saint Josephs (7-7) would take the lead in the sixth. Nic Lops tied it at 2-2 with a run scoring single before Brett Barati lifted a sacrifice fly to give the Monks a 3-2 lead.

Murphy and Taylor Reuillard would add RBI singles in the top of the seventh to make it 5-2 and end the scoring. Josh Partridge (2-0) earned the win on the mound going seven innings, allowing eight hits, two earned runs, no walks and 11 strikeouts. Corey McNamara earned his second save going one inning, allowing two hits and striking out one.

Brandon Reilly (2-1) took the loss for Husson going 6.2 innings, allowing nine hits, five earned runs, one walk and one strikeout.

Husson (6-7) will return to action on Saturday when it will host a NAC doubleheader against Thomas College beginning at 1 p.m. St Joes returns home to host a non-conference game Sunday at 1 p.m. against Roger Williams.
