Samantha Goode and Amber Kelly dominated in the circle to lead the University of Southern Maine (USM) softball team to a doubleheader sweep over Husson on Wednesday afternoon at the USM softball stadium in Gorham.
Goode who led Bucksport to a class C state title last spring, fired a two hitter and struck out 13 in leading the Huskies to a 4-0 victory in game one,
Kelly fired a no hitter to lead USM to a 7-0 victory in game two. The only base runner allowed by Kelly came on an error.
Husson (2-14) will play their home opener and their conference opener when they take on Castleton in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon starting at noon.
