Rick Porcello went six strong innings with seven strikeouts and the Boston Red Sox scored three runs in both the third and fifth innings Saturday afternoon to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 8-4 at Rogers Centre.
Porcello (1-0) would allow four earned runs on a pair of two run homers from Jose Bautista to earn the win. The combination of Koji Uehara and Robbie Ross Jr. would hold the Blue Jays hitless and scoreless over the final three innings.
R.A. Dickey (0-1) had nine strikeouts but also allowed six earned runs and eight hits over his five innings in taking the loss for Toronto.
Hanley Ramirez had a two run triple and Dustin Pedroia had three hits to lead the Red Sox offensively.
Boston (3-1) will face Toronto (2-4) once more in the series finale on Sunday afternoon looking for the early season sweep. First pitch is scheduled for 1:07 p.m
