EM Sports roundup from Thursday night

Plenty of sports action for alot of fans on Thursday night in Eastern Maine. Here is a roundup of what went on in case you missed any of it.

At the TD Garden in Boston the Atlanta Hawks eliminated the Celtics in Game 6 of the first round of the NBA playoffs 104-92. The Celtics only shot 36 percent from the floor in the game and the Hawks had as much as a 28 point fourth quarter lead. Paul Millsap led Atlanta with 17 points while Isaiah Thomas had 25 points and 10 rebounds.

At Fenway Park in Boston the Atlanta Braves ended their eight game losing streak while snapping the four game winning steak of the Red Sox with a 5-3 win. Clay Buchholz (0-3) took the loss allowing all five earned runs in 6.1 innings pitched. The Sox open up a three game home series with the Yankees on Friday. Boston currently sits in second place, one and one half games behind Baltimore.

At Binghamton, New York the Portland Sea Dogs got shut out by the Mets 6-0. Ty Buttery allowed four earned runs as the Dogs dropped to 6-15 on the season. Tyler Pill pitched eight innings for the Mets allowed no runs on four hits. The last place Sea Dogs open up a seven game home stand beginning Friday night against the Reading Phillies.

At Hershey, Pennsylvania the Portland Pirates played only their second three overtime game in their history as Rob Flick scored 3:10 into the third extra session leading Portland past Hershey 2-1 to take a 2-1 series lead in the Atlantic Division semifinals. Greg McKegg scored a game tying third period goal and Mike McKenna stopped 41 of 42 shots in net. The best of five series continues Saturday night at 7 p.m. in Hershey.
