It hasn’t gone well for Clay Buchholz so far this season, it didn’t start well for Buchholz on Wednesday night. It ended well as he only allowed three hits and two walks, while striking out six in lifting the Boston Red Sox to a 5-2 win over the Chicago White Sox.
Buchholz gave up a two run home run to Jose Abreau in the first inning. He only allowed one hit in his final 6.2 innings on the mound.
Xander Bogaerts had three hits, while David Ortiz recorded two hits and three RBI, including a two run home run. Jeff Rutledge was a late addition to the lineup due to Hanley Ramirez being scratched because of the flu. Rutledge reached base three times.
Koji Uehara and Craig Kimbrel pitched two hitless innings of relief. Henry Owens will take on Erik Johnson in a battle of young pitchers in the final game of the three game series at Chicago.
