The University of Maine softball team found out their fate on Sunday night as the brackets for the NCAA Tournament were released on ESPN U.
Maine will head to Athens, Georgia to face the #16 National seed in the 40-17 Georgia Bulldogs on Friday at 3:30 p.m. The game can be seen online on ESPN 3. The tournament is a double elimination format.
Maine (28-19) captured the America East championship by defeating the Albany Great Danes 14-1 on Saturday. Maine has won eight of their last 10 contests heading into the NCAA regional game Friday. Maine is making its first appearance in the tournament since 2004. That year Maine lost to California 4-0 before being eliminated by Iowa 2-0 the next day in Lincoln, Nebraska.
