Jake Gauvin pitched a four hitter in leading the Bucksport Bucks to their third straight victory on Tuesday afternoon. Gauvin struck out nine in the Bucks 5-1 win over Central at East Corinth.

The Bucks got things started quickly when they recorded two hits and took advantage of a Red Devils error to jump ahead 1-0 in the first inning. Chase Carmichael had the big hit, when he hit a double to score Andy Allen.

Bucksport expanded the lead when Riley Macleod draw a walk and came around to score in the second inning. That lead would be enough for Gauvin.  He didn’t allow a run until the fifth inning. Central did have their chances. The Red Devils left two on base in the second and third inning.

Andrew Speed had two of the Red Devils four hits, including a run scoring hit in the fifth inning. Zach Randall and Caleb Shaw each had one hit. Shaw took the loss on the mound,  allowing four runs (three earned) in 4.1 innings, Grant Poulin allowed one run (none earned) in 2.2 innings. Central (5-6) will play at Penquis on Wednesday and at Bangor Christian on Friday, Eastern Maine Sports will have live audio of the game at Bangor Christian on Friday at 3:55 PM.

Tanner Stegner, Carmichael, and Hayden Craig led the Bucks offense with two hits each. Gauvin  walked only three in his complete game effort. Bucksport (5-5) has sky rocketed to third in the Maine Principals’ Association class C heal points.  The Bucks will travel to Orono on Wednesday.
