TJ Crawford earns second Down East Limousine male athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 195 past athlete of the week winners.

This week, we had seven Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. TJ Crawford from Old Town high school edged out Jackson Coutts from Orono high school to earn his second Down East Limousine male athlete of the week. Crawford also earned the honor on October 18th, 2015. He joins Garrett Libby (1-22-12), Ethan Swedberg (10-7-12), Kendra Hayward (6-9-13), Rachel Martin- -(4-26-14), Eric Hoogterp  (4-25-15), Jake Jarvis (11-8-15), Kaleb Gifford (2) (6-13-16), and Olivia Albert (6-20-16) as student/athletes from Old Town high school to be named athlete of the week.

Down East Limousine male athlete of the week

TJ Crawford- Old Town- football- rushed for 230 yards and four touchdowns in 43-0 win over Hermon.

Runner up

Jackson Coutts – Orono- football- threw for 3 touchdowns and rushed for two touchdowns in 36-0 win over Stearns.

Other nominations

Dillion Drew- PCHS- soccer-recorded a hat trick in 5-1 win over Lee Academy.

Chandler Rockwell- Foxcroft- soccer- had a hat trick in 7-0 win over Dexter.

Gavin Matthieu- Brewer- soccer – recorded a hat trick and two assists in 5-1 win over Lawrence.

Logan Butera- Foxcroft- soccer- a 4 year varsity starter as goalkeeper, left the net Monday to be a field player and scored two goals in 7-0 win over Dexter.

Highview Christian boys soccer team -In the midst of a 0-32-1 stretch and coming off of a 5-0 loss at Valley, the Highview Christian boys varsity soccer team showed great heart, effort, and team unity in a 2-2 tie against a really good Chop Point team that dismantled them last season 7-0. These boys even after falling behind 1-0 early kept their composure and instead of packing it in took it to the Blue Bears getting the next two goals before giving up the goal that tied the game with a little over six minutes to go.
