The Husson football team got 198 yards rushing from John Smith and a score and also a pair of touchdowns from Robenson Saintard to pull away from Castleton 43-21 in an ECFC game at Spartan Stadium at Castleton, Vermont on Saturday afternoon.
Smith scored on a 47 yard run while Saintard scored on runs of 1 and 3 yards. Husson also got an 83 yard kickoff return from Deon Wiggins for a touchdown, and a 78 yard TD reception from Kadeem Edge. The defense recorded a safety and Ellis Throckmorton ran back an interception for 31 yards for another score.
Quarterback Cory Brandon was 11 for 20 passing, 177 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Along with Smiths day in the backfield, Obie Christmas also rushed for 91 yards on 14 carries.
Castleton quarterback Mitchell Caron was only 12 for 31 passing, 107 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. The Eagles outgained the Spartans in total yardage 483-88. Husson is now 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the ECFC while Castleton slips to 2-4, 2-1.
Castleton will return to action next Saturday when they host Maritime (NY) at 1 p.m. while Husson returns home to face Anna Maria Saturday at 12 noon.
