Orono- On their Senior night and final regular season game senior Becky Lopez-Anido had a team high three goals as Orono’s offense shined in a 6-1 win over the (7-6-1) PCHS Pirates.
Orono jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after Becky Lopez-Anido opened up the scoring with an unassisted goal, a few minutes later Lopez would score again off of a pass by Elise Kenney doubling their lead to 2-0. PCHS was able to hold them to two goals going into the half while Orono’s defense shut out a red hot Pirates offense in the first half.
The scoring came in bunches in the second half for Orono as Senior Daphne Murphy opened up the second half scoring with an unassisted goal, followed by Seniors Brinsley Chasse, Elise Kenney and another goal by Lopez-Anido.Goalie Katelyn Richards had 3 saves on 9 shots.
For PCHS, Orono was able to cool and shut down top scorer, Erin Speed up until the second half when she was able to put one in the back of the net with an assist by Sara Almarante.
Goalie Alivia Hunt had 9 saves on 13 shots.
Orono ends their regular season with a record of 10-1-3, and are pretty much a lock for the #1 spot in Class C going into the playoffs.
While PCHS ends their regular season at 7-6-1 and will bypass prelims and matchup in the Quarter-Finals on Wednesday, October 26th. Class C Girls Soccer Tournament kicks off Saturday October 22nd.
