Patrice Bergeron scored with just 1:15 left in regulation as the Boston Bruins got past the New Jersey Devils 2-1 Thursday night in the Boston home opener at TD Garden.

Bergeron was playing in his first game of the season after missing the first three games with a lower body injury.

Kyle Palmieri scored a powerplay goal 4:14 into the third period to break a scoreless tie, his second of the year, to give the Devils a 1-0 lead.

Brad Marchand tied it at 1-1 with his third of the year at 9:47, setting the stage for Bergeron late on a Marchand and David Pastrnak assist. Pastrnak won a battle along the boards, and shuffled the puck to Marchand who circled behind the net and found Bergeron who was three or four strides inside the blue line in between the two faceoff circles, and fired a hard wristshot that beat Devils goalie Corey Schneider glove side for the game winner.

Schneider took the loss in net for New Jersey (1-2-1) stopping 34 of 36 shots, while Tuuka Rask earned the win making 28 saves on 29 shots.

Boston is now 3-1-0 on the season. The Bruins will host the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
