Rick Porcello has been named a finalist for the American League Cy Young award. He joins Corey Kluber (Indians) and Justin Verlander (Tigers) as the top three.
Porcello finished with a league leading 22 wins and an ERA of only 3.15. He also could be considered for comeback player of the year as he finished 9-15 with an ERA of 4.92 ERA during the 2016 season.
Mookie Betts joins Jose Altuve (Astros) and Mike Trout (Angels) as finalists for the American League MVP award. Betts finished with 31 home runs, 113 runs batted in, and a batting average of .318. He also had 26 stolen bases in 30 attempts and played gold glove caliber right field.
David Ortiz was left out of the top three despite hitting .315 with 38 home runs and 127 RBI.
