The University of Maine at Machias Clippers women’s basketball team went on a 9-0 run to finish the game in a 53-50 win over NHTI on Sunday afternoon.
The first half saw the teams going back and forth to seven lead changes with NHTI holding the biggest lead at 12-5.
It was much of the same in the second half as the teams swapped leads seven times in the first 14 minutes of the half. NHTI went on a 7-0 run and held a 50-44 lead with 4:32 remaining.
Alicen Brooks nailed a three pointer for the Clippers with 3:22 left to cut the deficit to 50-47. Linda Riley made one of two free throws with 1:15 left, Kori Coro followed with a three pointer that gave the Clippers a lead they wouldn’t give back.
