Sigi Koizar scored 13 points and Laia Sole had 12, as the University of Maine Womens basketball team beat the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga 49-39, in a non-conference game played at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Massachusetts Sunday evening.
Maine held the Mocs to their lowest point total of the season so far, and UT-Chattanooga only shot 32 percent from the floor. Maine also forced 16 turnovers, and held a 16-4 advantage in points off turnovers. The Black Bears trailed 11-4 after one quarter and 22-21 at the half, before outscoring UT-C 28-17 in the second half to end a two game losing streak.
Blanca Millan also added 10 points as Maine improved to 3-4 on the season.
Lakelyn Bouldin had 11 points for UT-Chattanooga (3-5), while Jasmine Joyner had 10 points and 16 rebounds.
Maine returns to action next Friday night at 6 p.m. when they travel to Clemson. University of Tennessee-Chattanooga will travel to face UConn on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
