GUILFORD- The George Stevens Academy boys basketball team outscored Piscataquis Community High SchooL (PCHS) Pirates 53-25 in the middle two quarters and rolled to an 80-49 victory on Tuesday night.
Taylor Schildroth led the Eagles with 27 points to help the defending class C state champions start the season 2-0. Schildroth scored 12 points in the first half as George Stevens built a 42-23 lead. Max Mattson added 14 points and five rebounds, while Reece Dannenberg came off the bench to score 10 points, including two 3 pointers. Schildroth also recorded eight rebounds, six steals, and two assists.
Bryce Gilbert filled up the stat sheet for the Pirates. He scored a game high 28 points, he also recorded seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Gilbert is averaging 30.5 points through the first two games of the season. Damyan True added 10 points and eight rebounds for PCHS.
George Stevens will travel to Ellsworth on Friday night. PCHS (1-1) will play at Greenville on Thursday night.
