The defending class C state champions from George Stevens won at Ellsworth 74-67 against the defending class B north champs. Taylor Schildroth scored 25 points to lead George Stevens in the battle of the Eagles. Bryce Harmon scored a game high 29 points for Ellsworth.
Schildroth scored 27 points earlier this week in an 80-49 win over PCHS. George Stevens defeated Deer Isle-Stonington in their season opener. They will host Bucksport and travel to Sumner in the next week. Lee Academy and Dexter have also started 3-0 in class C boys north.
Peighton Ingersoll scored 18 points to lead the Stearns girls basketball team to a 52-33 win over Searsport. The Minutemen are 3-0. Stearns will be at PCHS on Monday, at Penquis on Wednesday, and will host Katahdin on Friday. George Stevens and Madawaska have also started the season 3-0 in girls class C north.
