The University of Maine Mens basketball team held a 10 point lead midway through the first half Sunday afternoon, only to see Quinnipiac score 57 second half points to rally for a 85-75 win in non-conference action at Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.
Wes Myers led the way for Maine with 21 points off the bench. Andrew Fleming had 11 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. Marko Pirovic also chipped in 10 points, as Maine fell to 4-7.
Chaise Daniels led Quinnipiac (4-6) with 17 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. Abdulai Bundu also had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Bobcats.
Quinnipiac shot 60 percent from the floor in the second half, after only shooting a 34 percent clip in the first half. The Bobcats knocked down 5-9 from the three point arc and 16-19 from the foul line in the second half to rally from an eight point halftime deficit to outscore the Black Bears 57-39 in the second twenty minutes. Quinnipiac also outrebounded Maine 43-29 in the game, including 15 offensive boards.
Maine returns to action Tuesday night when they travel to Providence for a 8:30 p.m. tipoff against the Friars. Quinnipiac returns home on Wednesday when they host Drexel at 7 p.m.
