DEXTER– Megan Peach and Kayli Cunningham combined for 34 points and 21 rebounds in leading the Dexter Tigers girls basketball team to a 44-19 win over Bucksport at Ed Guiski gymnasium.
The Bucks took a 6-5 lead in the first quarter. Cunningham came off the bench and gave the Tigers a lead (7-6) they wouldn’t give back. Cunningham scored eight points in the second quarter as Dexter outscored Bucksport 12-3 and expanded their lead to 19-9 at halftime.
Peach scored eight points in the third quarter to help the Tigers put the game out of reach. Peach controlled play near the basket, she finished with 18 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks, four assists, and four steals.
Cunningham provided a spark off the bench as she recorded 16 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Abby Webber put in five points, Ashley Reynolds and Abbie Paige put in two points, while Danielle Cummings made one free throw.
The Tigers out rebounded Bucksport 31-18. Dexter (4-1) will travel to PCHS on Friday. Live audio coverage starts at 6:50 PM.
Cassy Coombs led the Bucks with nine points, four steals, three rebounds, and two assists. Darian Jellison put in four points, while Haley Craig, Zoe Erickson, and Breanna Coombs added two points each.
The Bucks shot 1-9 from the free throw line, while Dexter shot 3-9. Bucksport (2-3) is scheduled to host Lee Acsdemy on Friday.
