CORINTH– The Central Red Devils girls basketball team shot 8-14 from the free throw in the fourth quarter to secure a 54-49 win over John Bapst on Monday night.
Libby Cook scored 13 of her team high 17 points in the first half as the Red Devils held a 23-21 halftime lead. Cook also led the Red Devils with eight rebounds.
Abi Allen added 16 points, four rebounds, and three steals. The freshman shot 5-8 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.Abi’s older sister Sydney Allen recorded 14 points, four rebounds, four steals, and three assists. The junior shot 4-6 from the free throw line.
Emily Smith scored three points and pulled down seven rebounds for the Red Devils. Rachel Smith put in a big bucket in the fourth quarter. Emma Campbell recorded one point, five rebounds, and three steals.
The Red Devils out rebounded John Bapst 33-31. Central (5-1) will host Hermon on Wednesday.
Crystal Bell scored 12 of her game high 25 points in the fourth quarter for the Crusaders. Bell made 5 three pointers and pulled down nine rebounds. Abbey Legasse and Grace Phillippon added nine points each. Madi Higgins scored four points and pulled down seven rebounds, while Tia Zepher came off the bench to record two points, seven rebounds, and two steals.
The Crusaders shot 11-21 from the free throw line, while Central shot 15-24. John Bapst (6-2) will play at Orono on Wednesday.
