Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 208 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had eight Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Taylor Schildroth put in 61 points, including 27 in the first quarter to lead the George Stevens Eagles to a win over Lee Academy. It is the fifth athlete of the week honor for Schildroth. The junior has helped the defending class C state champions start the season with a 9-0 record.

Taylor Schildroth- George Stevens- basketball- scored 21 points in 77-51 win over Searsport. Scored 61 points (12 three pointers), including 27 in first half in 97-69 win over Lee Academy.

Justin Thompson – Schenck – basketball- recorded 26 points, 20 rebounds, 10 assists in 70-58 win over Calais.

Dean Grass- Bangor Christian- basketball- scored 20 points in 61-49 win over Sumner.
Brayden Miller – Dexter – basketball- scored 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds in 55-45 win over Foxcroft. Scored 12 points (10 in first quarter) in 52-21 win over Stearns,
Nathan Gilman- Lee – basketball- scored 30 points in 54-52 win over PCHS.
Bryce Gilbert- basketball- scored 25 points in 54-52 loss to Lee. Scored 23 points in 66-41 win over PVHS.
RJ Nelson- Foxcroft- wrestling- the junior recorded his 100th career win at the meet vs Dexter/Ellsworth on January 5th at Foxcroft.
Chris King- Schenck- basketball- recorded 25 points (2 three pointers), 10 rebounds, and three assists in 70-58 win over Calais.
