Hermon girls roll to eighth straight win

HERMON— Maddie Pullen recorded 12 points (eight in the first quarter), six rebounds, and three steals to lead a balanced Hermon Hawks attack in a 60-34 victory over Mattanawcook on Monday evening.

Pullen drained a three pointer just 1:30 into the contest to give the Hawks a 3-0 lead. Natalie Tilton cut the deficit to 3-2. Hermon followed that up by scoring the next 17 points to jump out to a 20-2 advantage. Kim Voisine scored the final points of the quarter to cut the deficit to 20-4. Pullen and Alex Allain each hit 2 three-pointers in the first quarter. The Hawks out rebounded Mattanawcook 11-3 in the first eight minutes.

Madyson Curtis and Chloe Raymond each hit a three pointer in the second quarter as the Hawks outscored the Lynx 12-7 in the quarter to take a 32-11 lead into halftime.

Hermon had five different players that scored in the third quarter as they put the game away by outscoring the Lynx 18-4 to take a 50-15 lead.

Allain scored nine points (all on three pointers) for the Hawks. Raymond, Caitlynn Tracy, and Lauren Plissey added eight points each. Tracy also pulled down seven rebounds, Raymond recorded four steals, while Plissey pulled down four rebounds and had three steals. Curtis put in five points, while Paige Plissey scored four points and dished out four assists. Grace Plissey scored four points and pulled down five rebounds, while Emi Higgins put in two points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

The Hawks out rebounded Mattanawcook 40-24. Hermon (8-1) has won eight straight games and will travel to MDI on Thursday.

Katie Tolman led the Lynx with 13 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Voisine recorded eight points, four rebounds, and two steals. Courtney Gordon added five points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Katey Libby, Emily Tolman, Kiana Hanford, and Tilton finished with two points each.

The Lynx shot 5-9 from the free throw line, while the Hawks shot 4-4. Mattanawcook (2-7) will travel to Central on Wednesday. You can hear that game live at Eastern Maine Sports, coverage starts around 6:50.
