HERMON– The Hermon Hawks boys basketball team went on three big runs and rolled to a 56-25 victory over Caribou on Monday afternoon.
Caribou took their only lead at 4-2 early in the first quarter. Hermon went on an 8-0 run to take a 10-4 lead. The Hawks had a 13-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Parker Deprey hit a three pointer for Caribou to cut the deficit to 14-11 early in the second quarter. That would be as close as the Vikings would get, Hermon went on a 10-0 run to take a 24-11 halftime lead.
Caribou cut the deficit to 29-17 in the third quarter. Hermon went on a 16-0 run to finish the quarter and take a 45-17 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Hermon shot 4-7 from the free throw line, while Caribou was 1-4. Garrett Trask led the Hawks with 18 points and three assists. Keenan Marseille recorded nine points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Cody Hawes added six points, three assists, and three steals. Jordan Bishop contributed six points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Michael Berube and McKinnlee Sickles put in four points each, while Kent Johnson added two points. Hermon (10-2) will travel to Central on Wednesday. Eastern Maine Sports will have live audio coverage starting at 6:50 PM.
Caribou had 25 turnovers, while Hermon only turned it over 10 times. Alex Bouchard led the Vikings with seven points and four assists, Deprey added six points and four rebounds. Austin Findlen scored five points, while Tharen Hand and Jake Paul put in two points each. Caribou (2-9) will host Fort Kent on Wednesday.
