Nearly a perfect week last weekend, but I certainly will take the 3-0-1 record as the games get harder and harder to pick as teams fight for playoff positioning. This week Notre Dame visits Maine for a Portland/Orono two game series. I also take a trip outside Hockey East for a Big 10 matchup, and also pick the winner of the Beanpot title game Monday.

#16 Notre Dame (15-9-4, 8-5-3 Hockey East) at Maine (10-15-3, 4-11-1) at Cross Insurance Arena Portland, Maine
The Fighting Irish make a trip to Portland to start the two game series with the Bears. This weekend could be the last time that Maine ever faces the Irish unless it is Hockey East playoffs this year, or NCAA playoffs after this season, as Notre Dame leaves Hockey East after this campaign. Notre Dame comes in off a win and tie at home against Vermont last weekend, while Maine got swept at Providence.
The pick- Still much stiffer competition the Black Bears are facing the last two weekends. With that said, I like the Irish to take game one. NOTRE DAME 4, Maine 2
#10 Penn State (16-6-2, 5-4-1 Big 10) at #17 Wisconsin (15-8-1, 8-2-0)
The Nittany Lions were the hottest team in the nation a month or so ago, unbeaten in 15 of 16 games. But Penn St has dropped four games in a row, including 5-1 and 5-2 losses at Minnesota last weekend. The Badgers are hot right now winning five in a row, as they swept Michigan State on the road last weekend.

The venue shifts to the Alfond, and Maine will get a boost as they usually do from the home crowd but will it be enough?

Monday, February 13th
#4 Harvard (16-5-2) vs #3 Boston University (19-7-2) Beanpot Title game at TD Garden Boston, Massachusetts 8 pm
The Crimson and Terriers battle for the Beanpot Title this year. Both teams have Friday night games scheduled prior to meeting in this one. BU is scheduled to play at #9 UMass-Lowell, while Harvard hosts #6 Union.
The pick- Terriers too strong. Will always favor a BC Eagles team or BU Terrier team in this spot. Too experienced. BU 5, Harvard 3
