BANGOR- It didn’t look good for number one seed Hermon with 1:08 remaining. Things changed quickly as the Hawks scored the final 10 points and pulled off a 55-51 Maine Principals’ Association class B North boys basketball quarterfinal victory over Washington Academy on Saturday afternoon.
Keenan Marseille scored nine of his 18 points in the final quarter, including seven in the final minute. The Hawks forced three turnovers that set up the late dramatics.
Freshman Isaac Varney led the Hawks with 25 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Marseille added seven rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Jordan Bishop totaled nine points, eight rebounds, and two steals. Cody Hawes chipped in with two points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Hermon (17-2) will take on Orono in a semifinal game on Wednesday, February 22nd at 3:35 PM.
Kyle Case led the Raiders with 15 points, four assists, and two steals. Justin Villone put in nine points. Sean Seaver and Justin Su scored eighth points each. Seavey also pulled down seven rebounds. Yuntz Sutton scored six points, while Jim Lin added five points. Washington Academy finishes the season with a 13-7 record.
