BANGOR– Central Aroostook didn’t allow a field goal in the third quarter in a 54-46 Maine Principals’ Association class D North boys basketball quarterfinal victory over Jonesport-Beals on Monday afternoon.
The teams went back and forth in the first half, with the biggest lead being a Royals 20-14 advantage in the second quarter. The game was tied at 26 at halftime.
The Panthers went on a 9-0 run in the third quarter to take a 38-29 lead. Jonesport-Beals cut the deficit to 38-37 early in the fourth quarter. Central Aroostook went on a 12-4 run to put the game away.
Ben Thomas led the Panthers with 16 points (seven in 4th quarter), three rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Zach Crouch added 13 points and four rebounds. Caleb Harris recorded nine points, six rebounds, and two assists, while Brayden Bradbury chipped in with seven points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Central Aroostook (13-6) will play a semifinal game on Thursday, February 23rd at 3:35 PM.
The Panthers shot 16-24 from the free throw line, while the Royals shot 16-23.
Isaiah Faulingham led the Royals with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Jonesport-Beals finishes the season with a record of 11-8.
