BANGOR– The defending class D Northern Maine champions from Shead rolled to a 73-33 Maine Principals’ Association girls basketball quarterfinal win over Ashland on Monday morning at the Cross Insurance Center.
The Tigerettes went on a 15-0 run in the first quarter and never looked back. They held leads of 19-5 at the end of the first quarter, 35-16 at the half, and 59-21 after the third quarter.
Holly Preston filled up the stat sheet with 19 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and two steals for the Tigerettes. Cassidy Wilder added 16 points, four rebounds, and four blocks. Madison Greenlaw chipped in with 13 points, nine rebounds, and two steals. Katelyn Mitchell recorded 11 points, six rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. Justine Cheney chipped in with six points, four rebounds, and three assists. Shead (17-2) will play Woodland in a semifinal game Thursday, February 22nd at 7:05 PM.
Olivia Tardie led the Hornets with nine points and five rebounds.Shead out rebounded Ashland 42-21. Ashland finishes the season with a 9-11 record.
