BANGOR– Kylie Vining recorded 13 points, five rebounds, four steals, and two assists in leading top seed Southern Aroostook to a 47-31 victory over Katahdin in a Maine Principals’ Association class D quarer final game on Monday night at the Cross Insurance Center.
The Warriors went on a 7-0 run to end the second quarter to take a 24-17 halftime lead. Southern Aroostook outscored the Cougars 23-14 in the second half.
Sydney Brewer and Katelyn Slauenwhite added eight points each for the Warriors. Brewer also had seven rebounds and two steals. Kassidy Mathers chipped in with seven points and three steals. Southern Aroostook (18-1) will take on Easton in a semifinal game on Thursday, February 23rd at 8:35 PM.
Southern Aroostook shot 20-38 from the free throw line, while Katahdin went 1-3 from the line.
Georgia Landry led the Cougars with seven points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Madison Landry chipped in with six points, while Hannah Brewer scored five points and pulled down nine rebounds. Katahdin finishes the season with a 7-13 record.
