BANGOR- The Fort Fairfield Tigers held off Schenck and earned a 60-50 victory in a Maine Principals’ Association class C boys semifinal game played Friday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center.
The first quarter featured five lead changes with the game tied at 13 after the first eight minutes of play. Chris Giberson put in eight points for the Tigers, while Justin Thompson and Riley Dionne scored all 13 points in the quarter for the Wolverines.
The Tigers held the lead the entire second quarter and only loss that lead once in the second half. Chris King made two free throws to give Schenck that 30-29 lead with 6:20 remaining in the third quarter.
Fort Fairfield followed that with a 7-0 run. Schenck cut the deficit to 38-36. Tigers went on a 6-0 run to get the lead back up to eight. That lead would not go under six the rest of the way.
Giberson led a trio of Tigers in double figures with 13 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and steals. Isaac Cyr filled up the stat sheet with 12 points, six rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Ryan Player addd 10 points, three rebounds, and three steals. Fort Fairfield (19-1) will play in regional championship game on Saturday at 8:45 PM.
Thompson led the Wolverines with 32 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists. King added 10 points and seven rebounds, Schenck finishes the season with a 14-6 record.
