After visiting the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers last week, Dont’a Hightower has decided to sign a new contract to stay with the New England Patriots.
The deal is worth 43.5 million over four years, with a reported 19 million of guaranteed money.
Hightower, the 25th overall pick in 2002 out of Alabama, has recorded 267 tackles and 17 sacks over his first five seasons in Foxboro.
Hightower joins Duron Harmon and Alan Branch who have also re-signed to stay with the Patriots. Newcomers so far to the Patriots include Brandin Cooks and Rex Burkhead on offense, and Lawrence Guy and Stephon Gilmore on defense. Stacking up to be another formidable team in 2017-18, already coming off their fifth Super Bowl title.
