The Husson Eagles softball team continued non-conference action Friday afternoon when they faced Bowdoin College in a doubleheader that was moved to Colby College in Waterville due to field conditions.
The Polar Bears broke the Eagles three game winning streak by taking the opener 2-1. Bowdoin also took the second game 8-5.
Briana Brochu and Olivia Smith both had two hits and a pair of RBI to lead the Eagles offense on the day, while Morgan Coleman also had a hit and a pair of RBI. Alannah Healy was the tough luck loser in the first game in the circle for the Eagles. Healy allowed just five hits, two runs, one earned, with two strikeouts in six innings. Allison Rutz only allowed two Husson hits and an earned run with three strikeouts in six innings for Bowdoin (14-6). Brochu took the loss in the circle in game two for Husson allowing four runs, two earned, two hits, and two strikeouts in two innings.
Husson (12-8) heads home to face non-conference foe Fisher College (1-11) for a doubleheader Saturday. Game times are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Husson finally opens up conference play when they host UMaine-Farmington Tuesday at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
