Offense explodes in Red Sox win over Baltimore: Pomeranz solid in first outing of season

Drew Pomeranz turned in a solid performance and all the players in the lineup reached base as the Boston Red Sox defeated the Orioles 8-1 at Fenway Park on Tuesday evening.

In Pomeranz first outing of the season, he allowed only one run in six innings. Pomeranz allowed four hits and one walk, while striking out six. 

Christian Vazquez went 4-4 with two runs scored and two RBI from the number nine spot in the order. Vazquez was only a home run shy of a cycle. He also recorded his first career stolen base.

Dustin Pedroia got two hits and four RBI from the leadoff spot. Andrew Benintendi smacked three hits. Mookie Betts and Chris Young got two hits each. Young also scored three runs.  The Red Sox broke open a close game by scoring six runs in their final two at bats.
