Husson baseball down to final stretch of NAC play

April 17, 2017

The Husson Eagles baseball team is down to just 12 games remaining on their 2017 schedule. 10 of those games are within the North Atlantic Conference. The top team in the league gets to host the NAC playoffs come early May.

Husson so far has played 14 league contests (9-5), way more than the three teams ahead of them in the NAC standings. Lyndon State (4-1), Castleton (6-2), and Colby Sawyer (4-2).

Husson bounced back Saturday at New England College for a pair of wins, after losing a doubleheader Friday at the hands of the home Pilgrims at Henniker, NH.

Christian Corneil had three RBI, Mike Wong a pair of RBI, and Logan Rogerson had four hits to spark the Eagles 8-5 win in game one Saturday. Ben Holmes (3-1) went the distance on the hill, seven innings, allowing five runs, four earned, eight hits, three walks, with three strikeouts.

Rogerson had another three hits in game two and drove in a pair of runs, and Connor Maguire also drove in two to lead Husson to an 8-6 win to split the four game series. Jacob Gauvin (2-0) got the win in relief going three innings, allowing two runs, none earned, three hits, with one strikeout. Nick Guerrette got his second save going 0.1 innings, allowing no runs, no hits, and striking out the only batter he faced.

Husson (15-12) returns to action Tuesday and Wednesday when they finish out their non-conference schedule with games at Colby Tuesday at 6 p.m., and then will host Bowdoin Wednesday at 7 p.m. The remainder of the schedule is all NAC games with a four game series at Lyndon State April 22 and 23, at UMaine-Farmington for a pair of games on April 25, and then a four game home set with Castleton on April 29 and 30.
