Patriots offer Bills running back Gillislee a contract

April 18, 2017

According to Ian Rappaport of NFL.com, the New England Patriots have offered Buffalo Bills running back Mike Gillislee a free agent contract.

The Bills will now have five days in which to match the offer, or Gillislee officially becomes a New England Patriot. The offer is two years, 6.4 million, with four million to be paid out in year one. The Patriots would owe the Bills a fifth round draft pick if Buffalo doesn’t match the offer sheet.

Gillislee, who enters his fifth season out of Florida, has averaged 5.7 yards per carry the past two seasons. Last season he rushed 101 times for 577 yards and eight touchdowns in 15 games, with no fumbles.

The signing of Gillislee could spell the end for Legarrette Blount, who was offered a contract by the Patriots to stay, but reportedly declined the offer.
