Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 215 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had seven Rowell’s Garage female athlete of the week nominations. Breanne Oakes started the season by firing a no-hitter. Oakes is the fifth student/athlete from Hermon high school to earn athlete of the week honors. She joins Tyler Thayer – (2-17-14), Karli Theberge-(7) (5-29-16), Alex Allain (11-1-15), and Isaac Varney (2-19-17).

Breanne Oakes- Hermon- softball- the sophomore pitched a no hitter, striking out seven and also had two hits, including a home run and four RBI in 20-0 win over Central.

Sarah Guimond- Winslow- softball-had four hits (3 triples and double) and four runs scored in 16-4 win over Waterville.
Other nominations
Kylee Joyce- Narraguagus-softball- had three hits and three RBI in 14-2 win over Machias. Had two hits and two RBI in 14-0 win over Jonesport-Beals.
Lanie Perry- Narraguagus- softball- pitched a one hitter and struck out 10, and hit a grand slam in 14-0 win over Jomesport-Beals.
Katelin Saunders- Bucksport- softball- pitched a two hitter and struck out 12 and also had two RBI in 8-0 win over Washington Academy. Pitched a five hitter, striking out five in 2-1 win over MDI.
Bailey Robbins- Winslow- softball- had four hits, including two doubles and four RBI in 16-4 win over Waterville.
Ashley Lachance- Winslow- had three hits and two runs scored in 16-4 win over Waterville.
