Mookie Betts and Jackie Bradley JR each hit a home run, while Eduardo Rodriguez turned in a quality start to lift the Boston Red Sox to a 6-3 win at St. Louis on Tuesday night.
Betts led off the game with a homer. Bradley hit his long ball in the second inning to give the Red Sox a 2-0 lead.
The Cardinals scored all three of their runs in the third inning to take a 3-2 lead. The Red Sox took the lead in the fifth inning, Dustin Pedroia capped the inning with a run scoring single.
Heads up base running from Xander Bogaerts helped the Red Sox take a 5-3 lead in the eighth inning. Boston took advantage of a Cardinals error to take a 6-3 lead in the ninth innjng.
Rodriguez allowed three runs on five hits and two walks, while striking out five. The bullpen pitched three scoreless innings, capped by Craig Kimbrel pitching a perfect ninth.
