DEXTER— Taylor Schildroth allowed one unearned run in a complete game effort in leading the George Stevens baseball team to a 2-1 win over Dexter on Friday afternoon.
Schildroth allowed five hits and one walk, while striking out six. Beckett Slayton reached base four times with two hits, two runs scored, two stolen bases, and two walks for the Eagles.
George Stevens jumped out quickly in the first inning when Slayton hit a single, stole second base, and scored on a hit from Stefan Simmons.
Tigers starting pitcher Jacob Bickford cruised through the middle innings. He went through a stretch of retiring seven straight.
The Tigers evened the score in the third inning when they took advantage of an Eagles error. Zach White led off with a single and scored the only Dexter run on a RBI from Bickford.
George Stevens scored the go ahead run when Slayton led off the sixth inning with a walk, stole second base and scored on a hit from Jake Keenan.
Keenan had two hits, including a double for the Eagles. George Stevens (9-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season. They fell to Ellsworth 8-3 on Thursday.
Bickford allowed two runs on six hits and three walks, while striking out six in a complete game effort. Brayden Miller and Bickford each reached base twice for the Tigers. Dexter (5-4) will play George Stevens again on Saturday at Blue Hill.
