Two rain delays couldn’t slow down Drew Pomeranz and the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.
Pomeranz (7-4) allowed one unearned run on four hits, while striking out seven and walking none in five innings to help the Boston Red Sox defeat the Twins 9-2.
The first delay was before the game started and was approximately 50 minutes.
Pomeranz sailed through the first two innings. Christian Vazquez drilled a two run home run in the bottom of the second inning. It was the first homer for Vazquez since May of 2016.
Before the third inning started, the tarp came back on the field. This delay was around 90 minutes.
Pomeranz was able to return to the mound and get through the next three innings to earn the victory.
Dustin Pedroia went 3-3 and scored three runs. Xander Bogaerts had two hits, while Chris Young had three RBI.
