The Boston Red Sox scored five runs before Chris Sale even stepped on the mound at Anaheim on Friday night.
Sale (12-4) took care of the rest. He pitched six shutout innings, allowing four hits on two walks, while striking out nine in a 6-2 Red Sox win over the Angels
Sale surpassed the 200 strikeout mark for the season in only his 20th start. He joins Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, and Nolan Ryan as the only pitchers to reach the milestone so quickly.
Jackie Bradley JR had two hits, one run scored, and one RBI. Bradley also made an outstanding catch in centerfield.
Mookie Betts reached base three times, including two hits, one run scored, and one RBI.
