Kolleen Bouchard has earned Eastern Maine Sports athlete of the week a record breaking 10 times.
WAGM first reported that Bouchard who will be a senior this coming year at Houlton high school, has committed to Bentley University to play basketball starting the fall of 2018.
In Bouchard’s three years at Houlton, the Shiretowners have won three regional championship and a state championship in class C and class B. The Shires return to class C for the 2017/2018 season.
Bentley has a strong basketball tradition. The first priority for Bouchard was the type of education she will receive.
“My first priority in my decision was definitely my education. Bentley is known for being a top business school,”Bouchard said. “The basketball team being extremely successfully made my decision a lot easier.”
Kolleen’s brother Kyle Bouchard is a member of the men’s basketball team at Bentley.
“Kyle was most definitely a factor in my decision on top of me having close family living in that area as well,”Bouchard said. “Having Kyle and my family close is something that means a lot to me. You really cannot beat having a built in support system when you are that far away from home.”
Houlton is expected to be the favorite in class C North girls basketball this coming season.
