Sale sets Major League record as Red Sox shutout Jays

Chris Sale bounced back from his worst outing of the season, with one of his best in a 3-0 Red Sox win over the Blue Jays at Toronto on Tuesday night.

Sale (15-6) pitched seven shutout innings allowing three hits, he didn’t issue a walk, and struck out 11.  Sale became the fastest pitcher in MLB history to reach 1500 strikeouts. Sale gor that mark in 1290 innings, surpassing Kerry Wood who recorded 1500 strikeouts in 1303 innings.

Rajai Davis had two hits, two runs scored, and two stolen bases from the leadoff spot. Eduardo Nunez hit two doubles. Hanley Ramirez smacked a solo home run. 

Andrew Benintendi had two hits and two stolen bases.  The Red Sox had five stolen bases as Mookie Betts also had one. 

Addison Reed cams in with two runners on in the eighth inning and stranded them. Reed struck out two. Craig Kimbrel pitched a scoreless ninth inning, striking out two to record his 31st save.
