GUILFORD— the regular season could not have started any better for the Piscataquis Community High School (PCHS) Pirates boys soccer team.
Dillion Drew recorded three goals and two assists to lead a powerful Pirates attack as they rolled to a 10-0 win over Penquis on Saturday afternoon.
Kobe Gilbert got the scoring started 11:59 into the contest. Gilbert a freshman, also assisted on Drew’s first goal and scored another goal in the second half in his first varsity game.
PCHS held a 4-0 halftime lead. The Pirates scored four goals in a three minute span early in the second half against an undermanned Penquis squad. The Patriots played with 10 available players.
Bryce Gilbert recorded two goals and three assists. Cameron Kane had one goal and one assist. Eben Cooley gave PCHS a four goal lead late in the first half. Caleb Willis added a late goal to finish off the scoring for the Pirates.
PCHS out-shot Penquis 36-1. Jake Baker recorded 19 saves for the Patriots. Sean Kimball and Matt Robinson split the goalie duties for the Pirates, with Robinson getting one save.
PCHS (1-0) will host Lee Academy on Wednesday. Penquis (0-1) is scheduled to host Dexter on Wednesday.
