David Price, Addison Reed, and Craig Kimbrel combined for five shutout innings, to help the Boston Red Sox earn a 5-4 win at Cincinnati on Friday night.
The Red Sox fell behind early when Scooter Gennett smacked a grand slam off Rick Porcello. It is the fourth grand slam of the season for Gennett.
Rafael Devers sparked the offense with two hits, including a three run home run.
Price (6-3) came in for the fifth inning and pitched 2.3 scoreless innings. Reed pitched 1.1, while Kimbrel closed it out for his 34th save. That formula could be what we we see come playoff time.
Speaking of the playoffs, the Red Sox now lead the AL East by four games, with a magic number of six to clinch the division.
