The Boston Red Sox announced on Wednesday morning that they will not be bringing back John Farrell as their manager for the 2018 season.
The Red Sox were eliminated on Monday when they lost to the Astros in the American Leagie Divison Series.
Farrell and the Red Sox won the World Series in 2013. He was the first manager ever to lead the Red Sox to back to back division titles (2016, 2017). Farrell also managed the Red Sox to back to back last place finishes (2014, 2015) for the first time since 1930.
Farrell’s contract goes through 2018.
