Each week during the high school sports season, Eastern Maine Sports will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations during the week to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com. When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination. Here is a full list of the 236 past athlete of the week winners.
This week, we had eight Rowell’s Garage male athlete of the week nominations. Chase Carmichael edged out Marcus Christopher to earn athlete of the week of the honors. Carmichael threw for over 200 yards and six touchdowns in leading Bucksport to a win over Mount View. He also ran for one touchdown and converted two point plays. Carmichael is the ninth student/athlete from Bucksport high school to earn athlete of the week honors. He joins Mike Cummings (5-13-12), Kacie Hurd (9-16-12), Cassidy Adams – (2)- (5-19-13), Carter DeRedin- (5-23-15), Samantha Goode- (6-21-15), Riley MacLeod (12-26-15), Kate Saunders (4-30-17), Matt Vincent (4-30-17).
Roadrunner Taxi male athlete of the week
- Chase Carmichael – Bucksport – football- passed for six touchdowns and rushed for another. Plus threw for over 200 yards and two extra points in 47-6 win over Mount View.
Runner up
- Marcus Christopher – Skowhegan- football- threw for six touchdowns and rushed for one in 58-56 win over Lawrence.
Other nominations
- Dillion Drew- PCHS- Soccer- scored all three goals in 3-1 win over Lee.
- Nate Richards- Dexter- Soccer – scored lone goal as the Tigers knocked off previously undefeated Orono. Had one goal and one assist in 3-0 win over Searsport.
- Jacob Harrison – Old Town – Soccer- had two goals and one assist in 3-0 win over Brewer.
- Matt Richards- Dexter- soccer- had two goals in 3-0 win over Searsport. Had one assist in 1-0 win over Orono.
- Joe Bell- Skowhegan- football- had five receiving touchdowns in 58-56 win over Lawrence.
- Adam Bertrand- MCI- football- rushed for 192 yards and a touchdown in 34-20 win over Foxcroft.
