The University of Maine womens soccer team, field hockey team, and also womens ice hockey were all in action once again this weekend.
At Albany, NY Sunday the womens soccer team came up short 4-1 against the Great Danes of Albany in conference action.
Maine (4-8-1, 2-3-1 America East), fell down 2-0 early before Priscilla Domingo scored her second goal of the season to make it 2-1 at half. Mariah Williams finished off her hat trick in the second half for Albany as the Great Danes pulled away. Maine will host Binghamton on Thursday at 7 p.m.
At Durham, NH Friday, the Maine field hockey team built a 4-1 early second half lead and then hung on for a 4-3 win to improve to 3-1 in conference play.
Brianna Ricker scored a pair of goals for Maine and now has 10 markers on the year. Casey Crowley and Riley Field also scored as the Bears improved to 9-4 overall. Maine will host UMass-Lowell Friday at 3 p.m.
At Alfond Arena Friday and Saturday, the Maine womens ice hockey team came up with a split against the #10 Robert Morris Colonials.
Friday night after a scoreless two periods, Robert Morris got goals from Amanda Pantaleo and the eventual game winner from Britanny Howard in the third period to take the 2-1 win. Catherine Tufts scored with 6:21 left for the Black Bears goal.
Saturday afternoon Maine built a 3-0 lead after two periods, and ended up with a 5-2 win to improve to 4-2 on the season.
Tereza Vanisova had two goals and two assists, and Stacey Brooke had two goals and an assist to lead the Black Bears. Loryn Porter had 38 saves in net to earn the victory. RMU dropped to 3-1 in the loss. Maine will host Boston University Friday at 2 p.m.
